The assignedToId field records who is responsible for a LabBatch, linking it to a User through the assignedTo relation. It is optional, so a batch can sit unassigned in a queue until someone takes it on. Assigning a batch makes accountability clear and lets supervisors see each person's workload. Because batches are indexed by tenant and assignee, it is easy to pull up everything a particular lab worker is responsible for, which helps balance work across the team during the processing phase.
