Project Latitude

The `latitude` on a Project is its optional north-south geographic coordinate in decimal degrees.

The latitude field records how far north or south a Project sits, expressed in decimal degrees. Paired with longitude, it gives a precise point that mapping tools and web maps understand directly, without needing the UTM zone context that utmEasting and utmNorthing require. It is stored with high precision — up to seven decimal places — which is enough to locate a project to within a few centimeters. It is optional, so a project may be located only by UTM, by county and state, or by a descriptive location instead. When you have GPS readings in latitude and longitude, recording them here makes the project easy to plot on any map.
