Project

A `Project` is the top-level organizing record in Relic. Every site, excavation unit, artifact, feature, photo record, daily log, lab batch, and compliance report belongs to exactly one Project.

Everyday

Create a Project for each archaeological investigation your team runs. The Project carries the identifying details that the whole job hangs off of: its name, description, projectType (SURVEY, EXCAVATION, MONITORING, or TESTING), and status as the work moves from PROPOSED through ACTIVE to COMPLETE. It also records who is responsible via principalInvestigatorId, where the work happens through county, state, location, and UTM or latitude/longitude coordinates, and the regulatory paperwork via shpoNumber and permitNumber. The projectPrefix and catalogSequence together drive artifact catalog numbering, so every find traces back to its Project.
