Fee schedules — commission, yard fees, and checkoffs

A fee schedule is an effective-dated set of charges — commission in basis points with per-head min/max, plus per-head yard, insurance, checkoff, vet, brand, and manure fees — that resolves the deductions on every settlement.

A fee schedule is the price list the barn charges sellers. It bundles the commission and all the per-head fees into one named, dated set so settlements compute consistently.

It includes:

  • Commission — the barn's percentage cut, with optional minimum and maximum dollar amounts per head.

  • Per-head fees — yard fee, insurance, beef checkoff, state checkoff, brand inspection, vet, and manure.

  • Custom fees — any extra charges the barn defines.

A schedule has an effective from date (and optional effective to), so when fees change you create a new schedule rather than editing history.

Commission is stored in basis points — 250 basis points is 2.5%. The per-head minimum and maximum cap that percentage so a very cheap or very expensive head still pays a sensible commission.
