A legal hold freezes a health paper in place. It's used when a document is tied to a dispute, investigation, or regulatory matter and must be preserved exactly as-is. While the hold is on, the record can't be edited or removed by anyone.
A document under legal hold cannot be modified or deleted. Don't apply a hold casually — it should only be set when there's a real preservation requirement, and it must be cleared before the record can be changed again.
