Analytical Result

An AnalyticalResult records the laboratory's measured concentration of one analyte in one sample. It carries both the raw reported values (resultValue, resultText, reportedUnit) and normalized equivalents (normalizedValue, normalizedUnit) for cross-result comparison. Quality flags include isNonDetect, qualifier, detectionLimit, and reportingLimit. Each result is linked to its SamplingEvent, Analyte, analytical method, and ImportBatch.

After a groundwater sample is collected during a SamplingEvent and analyzed by a laboratory, each measured constituent becomes an AnalyticalResult. The result stores the raw resultValue and reportedUnit as the lab reported them, plus a normalizedValue in a standard unit for consistent comparison across labs and methods. If the analyte was not detected above the detectionLimit, the isNonDetect flag is set and the result is handled conservatively in exceedance detection. The qualifier field holds lab data qualifiers such as "J" for estimated results. Once imported, each AnalyticalResult is compared against applicable ThresholdValues and, if it exceeds one, generates an Exceedance record.
