Sampling Event

A SamplingEvent records a single instance of groundwater sample collection at a specific well on a specific date. It links a site and well to the lab report that analyzed the collected sample, and serves as the parent record for all AnalyticalResults from that visit.

When field staff collect groundwater samples at a monitoring well, Piper creates a SamplingEvent to group everything from that visit together. The event captures the siteId, wellId, sampleDate, sampleType, and matrix — the physical medium sampled, such as groundwater or surface water. It also records the labName and labReportId so results can be traced back to the laboratory deliverable. All AnalyticalResults produced by analyzing the collected samples are linked through the samplingEventId, making it easy to view a complete picture of what was detected during a single visit.
