The ApprovalStep record (ApprovalStep) is a record type in Chalk, the higher-education academic operations platform for curriculum, assessment, faculty, scheduling, accreditation, and budget. Each ApprovalStep row is scoped to a tenant and stores fields such as id, tenantId, routeId, stepNumber, name, description, requiredVotes, allowConditional, createdAt, updatedAt. These fields hold the data Chalk needs to track a approval step as faculty, staff, and automations work with it. Because every ApprovalStep row carries a tenantId, one institution's approval step data is never visible to another.
