Create a Site for each archaeological location you investigate within a Project. The Site holds its formal identity and interpretation: the smithsonianTrinomial (the standard state-county-number designation), a human-readable siteName, the siteType (PREHISTORIC, HISTORIC, MULTI_COMPONENT, or UNKNOWN), and the culturalAffiliation of who lived there. It also records the nrEligibility for the National Register of Historic Places, a dateRange describing the period of occupation, an areaExtent describing its size, and latitude / longitude for mapping. Everything excavated — units, artifacts, features, and photos — links back to its Site.
